How your match is worked out

Every statistic is turned into a percentile among the countries that have data for it: 0 is the lowest country, 100 the highest.
For things where one end is simply better (safety, clean air…), the percentile is turned so that the better end scores highest. For matters of taste (warmth, seasons, rain, bustle, age mix) we score how close a country is to the spot you picked; for warmth, within ±14 °C of your temperature. Yes/no facts (by the sea, one of your languages) count as 0 or 100.
Your match is the weighted average of those scores, weighted by how much you said each thing matters (nice to have ×1, important ×2, very important and dealbreaker ×4).
Countries with data for less than 70% of what you weighted are left out, and so are countries scoring under 35% on a dealbreaker. Both lists are shown under the table.

This is a way to explore the data, not advice. It knows nothing about visas, languages, jobs, costs of moving, family or your own circumstances, and national averages hide big differences between regions and cities.
